Isotopes to Honor Cancer Patient at Game

The Albuquerque Isotopes will honor 17-year-old West Mesa High School football player, Zak Lannon, as a part of their pre-game ceremonies for tomorrow's 12:05 p.m. game.

Lannon was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Desmoplastic Small Cell Tumor, which is a highly aggressive tumor that frequently occurs as multiple masses in the abdomen and involves the regional lymph nodes and the lining of the abdomen and pelvis.

The entire Albuquerque Isotopes squad and full-time Isotopes staff members will be wearing his t-shirt before first pitch. The front of the shirt reads an inspirational quote from his high school football coach, stating, "You never know how strong you are...Until being strong is the only choice you have." Lannon's football jersey number, 36, is listed on the back.

Zak will also being throwing out tomorrow's ceremonial first pitch.
