Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - The Kansas City Royals officially announced today that right-hander Yordano Ventura, ranked as the number three prospect in the Royals organization, has been transferred from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to the roster of the Omaha Storm Chasers.

Ventura celebrated his 22nd birthday today, and his scheduled appearance in one of the upcoming four games against Oklahoma City June 6-9 will be his first ever outing at the Triple-A level. Ventura made 11 starts this season for Northwest Arkansas recording 74 strikeouts in 57.2 innings pitched. He was 3-2 with a 2.34 ERA, while also posting a .189 opponent batting average and a 1.02 walks and hits per inning ratio.

Signed in 2008 as a 17-year-old out of the Dominican Republic, Ventura has quickly become a highly-regarded prospect in the Royals Farm System and started the Futures Game during last year's All-Star Game festivities at Kauffman Stadium. He has a fastball that has been recorded at a high of 102 miles per hour.

Ventura will be the first top-ten Royals prospect according to Baseball America to play for the Storm Chasers this season. He is also the highest rated Kansas City farmhand to join the Omaha roster since outfielder Wil Myers was promoted to the Storm Chasers during the 2012 season on May 17, when Myers was rated the number three prospect in the Kansas City system at that time.
