
Isotopes Best Iowa in Seesaw Game

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Chili Buss drove in three runs, including the tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the ninth inning, and the Albuquerque Isotopes outlasted the Iowa Cubs, 9-7, before 12,024 fans at Principal Park.
The game had six lead changes. Iowa led 2-0 after the first inning, 4-3 after the fourth inning, and 6-5 after the sixth inning. Albuquerque led 3-2 after the third inning, 5-4 after the fifth, 7-6 after the seventh, then took the lead for the final time in the ninth inning.
Buss threw out a runner at home plate in the first inning to save a run, he hit a sacrifice fly in the third for a 3-2 lead, doubled home a run in the seventh to tie it 6-6, and then delivered in the ninth inning off Iowa reliever Casey Coleman (2-1).
The game-winning rally began with singles by Alex Castellanos and Ian Stewart.
Stewart had two doubles, a single and a walk. Elian Herrera had three hits and an RBI. Justin Sellers was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including a double in the fifth for a 5-4 lead and a sac fly in the seventh for a 7-6 lead. Brian Barden was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. The Topes had 15 hits total.
Isotopes starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez went 5 1/3 innings, allowed five runs on nine hits, including a tape-measure home run that left the ballpark by former Isotope Edgar Gonzalez, who was starting his first game of the year.
Jae-Hoon Ha greeted reliever Anthony Ortega with a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Junior Lake went 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs scored and his broken-bat single off Red Patterson in the seventh inning re-tied the game at 7-7.
Peter Moylan (3-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Javy Guerra closed it out with a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save, and second of the series.
The Topes (55-42) are back to their high-water mark of the season at 13 games over .500, after winning 11 of 16 and 21 of their last 31 games. Their lead is back to two games over Round Rock in the PCL's American Southern division.
