Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Reno's Mike Bolsinger tossed a nine-inning complete game to guide the Aces to a 4-1 win over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium on Saturday.
Bolsinger limited Tacoma to six hits, struck out five and did not issue a walk. The right-hander retired 22 of the final 24 batters he faced to collect his second complete-game victory this season.
Tacoma took a 1-0 edge over the Aces in the bottom of the second thanks a one-out solo home run delivered by Scott Savastano - the designated hitter's third this season.
The score held until the fourth inning, when Reno rallied with a pair of runs in the top of the frame. Second baseman Tyler Bortnick drove in the equalizer with an RBI single. Outfielder Juan Rivera accounted for the go-ahead run after belting a two-out solo home run.
James Paxton, in his first start since tossing a nine-inning shutout at Tucson on July 8, was dealt the loss despite limiting the Aces to three runs on seven hits over seven innings. The left-hander struck out six batters without issuing a walk in his 19th start this season.
At 55-42, Tacoma is tied with Albuquerque for the best record in the Pacific Coast League and owns a one-game lead over Salt Lake for first place in the Pacific Northern Division.
The Rainiers host the final game of a four-game series with Reno at 1:35 p.m. tomorrow, July 13. Right-hander Blake Beavan (3-2, 4.91) will make his first start for Tacoma since being optioned from Seattle on July 12. Right-hander Garrett Mock (6-4, 6.10) is slated to start for the Aces.
