OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - Chris Gutierrez sprayed a single into right field to score the go ahead run in the ninth inning to cap a three run inning. The Zephyrs trailed by a pair of runs and rallied to score three to defeat Oklahoma City 7-6 in front of 4,332 fans at Bricktown Ballpark.
The Zephyrs have won six of their last seven games and pulled to 49-49 at the All-Star Break. The Z's also picked up their league leading fifth win of the season when trailing after eight innings. The Z's had three wins all of last season when trailing after eight innings.
Chris Guiterrez picked up four hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games with the Zephyrs.
The two teams battled back and forth with the Redhawks delivering a two out seeing eye single into centerfield by Carlos Perez in the eighth. Che-Hsuan Lin then hit a flair into right field to put runners at first and third. Ruben Sosa tripled to score both and the Hawks took a 6-4 lead.
The Z's scored three runs on three hits and worked a pair of walks in the ninth inning rally. Matt Downs RBI double tied the contest and Gutierrez single brought home the winning run.
Former Tulane pitcher Josh Zeid suffered his first loss. He had converted all ten saves and was touched up with the three runs in the loss. Adam Reifer earned the win and Chris Hatcher earned his league leading 27th save of the season.
The Zephyrs finish the series taking four of five against OKC. For the season the teams split the sixteen meetings.
