Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Isotopes bats exploded during Friday's Home Opener at Isotopes Park, putting up 10 runs during the contest en route to a 11-6 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers. The Isotopes improved to 11-3 all-time in Home Openers, coming out victorious in seven of their last eight Opening Days.
After plating three runs in the second inning via a two-RBI single by Chris Nelson and a run-scoring single by Jeff Bianchi, the Isotopes opened it up in the third. Tim Smalling broke the Isotopes season-long home run drought, connecting on a grand slam in the fourth inning to give Albuquerque a 7-2 lead.
While Tacama's offense would attempt to keep them in the game, the Isotopes would go on to plate a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to extend their lead at the time to 10-4. Albuquerque would go on to score their 11th and final run of the game on a Tacoma error in the bottom of the eighth.
The win for the Isotopes puts the club above the .500 mark for the first time this season and marks their fourth victory in a row.
The Isotopes and Rainiers continue their four-game set tomorrow evening from Isotopes Park on Holly Holm Night. "The Preacher's Daughter" will deliver the game's ceremonial first pitch and be honored before the game. The first 3,000 fans to enter Isotopes Park will receive their very own Holly Holm bobbleheads courtesy of Lovelace Health System. Fans will also have the chance to bid on Holly Holm-themed jersey via a silent auction during the contest. Lefty Ryan Carpenter (0-1, 7.20) will get the start for the Isotopes and will be opposed by the Rainiers Adrian Sampson (1-0, 0.00). First pitch from Isotopes park is set for 7:05 p.m.
