Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - Right-hand pitcher Michael Wagner was added to the I-Cubs roster today from Single-A South Bend. Wagner gets the start tonight against Round Rock, taking the place of Pierce Johnson, who went on the disabled list yesterday.

Wagner has appeared in two games in relief for South Bend this season and holds a 1-0 record with a 3.38 ERA. He has spent the majority of his career in the bullpen, but has collected 10 minor league starts over the previous three seasons. In 2015, Wagner went 2-1 with a 3.16 ERA in five starts with South Bend and took a no decision in one start with Iowa after allowing two runs, one earned, over 4.0 innings.

The righty was selected by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2013 draft out of the University of San Diego.

The I-Cubs play game two of a four-game series at Round Rock tonight at 6:05 p.m. Catch all the action on AM 940 or at iowacubs.com.
