Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs earned the 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Bisons in a rain-shortened affair Wednesday evening at Sahlen Field in the opening game of the Triple-A 'Final Stretch.'

After a 29-minute rain delay, the game was called after six and a half innings of play.

Long before the rain halted action, Lehigh Valley plated their first run right out of the gates. With two outs in the top of the opening frame, Mickey Moniak hit a solo shot off Buffalo starter Anthony Kay.

Kay, who made his first appearance with the Bisons since August 4, tossed an inning of work, yielding the one run off Moniak's long ball.

Lehigh Valley added their second run of the game in the second when Darick Hall hit a sacrifice fly to Buffalo left fielder, Forrest Wall, scoring Bryson Stott.

The IronPigs plated their final run of the contest in the sixth after backstop Rafael Marchan beat out the potential inning-ending double play, allowing Moniak to plate his second run of the game.

Casey Lawrence followed Kay on the mound for the Herd. The righty allowed two runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out a pair of batters.

Travis Bergen fanned a pair of IronPigs to complete the top half of the seventh inning, before the heavy precipitation prevented the game from continuing.

Buffalo will look to even the series Thursday night when southpaw Nick Allgeyer is scheduled to face fellow lefty Christopher Sanchez. First pitch from Sahlen Field is slated for 6:05 p.m.
