Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Chris Iriart was all the offense the Beloit Snappers needed in game two of Sunday's doubleheader with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The Snappers first baseman hit a pair of homers and drove in all four of Beloit's runs in a 4-3 victory over the Rattlers.

Wisconsin starting pitcher David Burkhalter pitched three scoreless innings and only allowed one hit, a leadoff double to Iriart in the second inning. Beloit starter Evan Manarino tossed five scoreless innings despite allowing five hits.

The Snappers (3-1) broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth against reliever Conor Harber. Jesus Lopez reached on an error with one out. Then, Harber hit Ryan Howell to put two runners on base. That brought up Iriart. Harber got ahead of Iriart 0-2, but left the next pitch up and a three-run home run was the result.

The Timber Rattlers (1-3) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth against reliever Corey Miller. Carlos Belonis, who had four hits in the doubleheader, doubled to start the inning. One out later, Monte Harrison singled to center to drive in Belonis, and the Rattlers were down 3-1. Isan Diaz followed with a long single off the wall in center to send Harrison around to third. Miller escaped the inning by getting an Max McDowell to hit into an inning, double play, the third twin killing hit into by the Rattlers in the game.

Iriart struck again in the top of the seventh inning with a leadoff homer off Jordan Yamamoto to give Beloit a little insurance that it turned out they needed.

Sthervin Matos reached on an error with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but he was still at second with two outs in the frame. Luis Aviles kept the game going with an RBI double to left-center. Belonis followed with his third hit of the game, a single to right that scored Aviles to pull the Rattlers to within a run.

Beloit went to the bullpen and brought Armando Ruiz on to relieve for Miller and he got the final out on a grounder to third against the only batter he faced.

The teams wound up splitting the twinbill. Wisconsin won game one 4-2 earlier in the day.

The Timber Rattlers begin a brief three-game road series with the Burlington Bees on Monday night. Miguel Diaz makes his Midwest League debut as the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Lefty Ronnie Glenn is set to start for the Bees. Game time is 6:30pm.

The radio broadcast on 1280 AM, WNAM starts at 6:10pm. The game is also on the internet with IHeartRadio and TuneIn Radio.
