Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Bowling Green Hot Rods (affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) in the second of two meetings between the clubs in Dayton.
Last Game: Saturday: Dayton 7, Bowling Green 2. James Vasquez belted a two-run homer and Mitch Trees added a two-run single to lead the Dragons to their first win. Starting pitcher Jose Lopez was outstanding, coming within one out of completing six scoreless innings. He allowed his first and only run on the final batter he faced with two outs in the sixth inning. After the Dragons built a 4-0 early lead, Bowling Green battled back to cut their deficit to 4-2, but the Dragons scored three in the eighth, keyed by Narciso Crook's two-run double. Crook, Hector Vargas, and Mitch Piatnik each had two hits for Dayton. The Dragons stole three bases in the first two innings of the game.
Today's Dragons Starting Pitcher: Franderlyn Romero is a 23-year-old native of Venezuela who was signed as an international free agent in 2010. Romero spent the 2015 season at Billings, making 10 starts and five relief appearances, going 3-4 with a 3.34 ERA that ranked second in the Pioneer League. Romero made one start for the Dragons in 2014.
