
Iowa Shows Life Late, Almost Completes Improbable Comeback against Austin

Cedar Park, Texas - The Iowa Wolves (5-11) came back from a 25-point deficit before dropping Saturday night's contest 118-116 to the Austin Spurs (10-7) at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
Darius Johnson-Odom led all scorers in the game with 27 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the floor. The former Marquette guard also tallied six assists and three steals off the bench for Iowa.
Diamond Stone added a season-high 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals while shooting 73.3% from the field.
Both of Iowa's top scorers came off the bench in the loss.
Trailing by 22 points after three quarters, Iowa outscored its opponent 38-18 in the final frame to make for an interesting final few minutes of play. Canyon Barry buried a three-pointer with 7.0 seconds remaining to draw the game within one. Iowa would regain possession off a missed free throw a few seconds later down two points but would miss getting a shot off before the game clock expired.
Veteran Hakim Warrick finished with 12 points off 5-of-6 shooting in just his third start of the season.
As a team the Wolves shot 48.4% from the floor and 90.9% from the charity stripe.
Eight players scored in double figures for Austin, including all five starters. San Antonio Spurs assignee Chimezie Metu paced the Spurs offensively with 21 points.
Iowa continues its road trip with a Monday night matchup against the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 6:30 p.m. CT.
