Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue (13-3) defeated the Memphis Hustle (9-7), 119-111, on Friday night.
The game was tightly contested in the first half of play with the first quarter evenly matched at 20 points apiece and just a two-point advantage by Oklahoma City at the break. The Blue then outscored the Hustle 31-21 in the third frame thanks to Donte Grantham who went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to score 12 of his career-high 25 points in the quarter. OKC then maintained the double-digit distance for the majority of the fourth to retain the best record in the G League.
"I thought we started off a little sluggish in the first half then we got back on to our identity in the third quarter and were able to open the game up," Head Coach Mark Daigneault said. "We are hoping to close this stretch, which has been physically and mentally tough on our guys, strong tomorrow with another one at home."
Two-way player Deonte Burton posted 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Scotty Hopson went 9-for-11 from the field and 3-for-3 from three-point range to register 23 points, a team-leading eight assists and four rebounds.
Richard Solomon earned his seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and a team-best 10 rebounds while Chris Wright came off the bench to match Solomon's rebounding effort while swatting four shots.
The Blue had six players in double figures and outscored the Hustle 14-5 in transition.
Brandon Goodwin led Memphis with 22 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals.
The Blue will remain home to complete the back-to-back tomorrow night at 7 p.m., taking on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants inside Cox Convention Center.
