AUSTIN, Texas (Dec. 15, 2018) - The Austin Spurs (10-7), presented by SWBC, defeated the Iowa Wolves (5-11), 118-116, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park Saturday evening.
San Antonio Spurs assignee Chimezie Metu scored a team-high 21 points (9-15 FG), while fellow assignee Lonnie Walker IV contributed 16 points (6-10 FG). Amida Brimah notched his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points (3-5 FG) and 14 rebounds.
The Silver and Black began the contest with a 5-0 run, initiating a lead that they would hold on to for the remainder of the game. The Spurs began to gain separation in the second frame, outscoring the Wolves 38-20 in the quarter for a halftime lead of 68-43.
Iowa pushed back in the second half, cutting the lead to as little as one point late in the fourth. A missed three-pointer by the Wolves at the buzzer ended the game, and the Silver and Black were able to hold off the comeback for a final score of 118-116.
Consistent shooting led to a field goal percentage of 53.8 percent, with eights Spurs, including all five starters, scoring in the double digits. Austin is undefeated (8-0) when outshooting opponents from the field.
Darius Johnson-Odom paced Wolves scoring with 27 points (11-22 FG) and notched a team-high-tying six assists. Keita Bates-Diop contributed a double-double of 14 points and 10 boards.
