THE WEEK AHEAD

Tuesday, March 22nd Inferno vs. Florida Everblades Carolina Coliseum 7:30pm

Columbia is 2-0-0 against the Everblades this season and 14-8-1 all-time. Florida is in second place in the South Division with a 37-18-9 record (83 points in 64 games). They have already qualified for the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Thursday, March 24th Inferno @ Augusta Lynx Richmond Civic Ctr. 7:05pm

Augusta is in last place in the East Division with 55 points (24-31-7). The Inferno is 2-2-1 this season and 14-10-4 all-time against the Lynx. This is the last game between the Inferno and Lynx.

Friday, March 25th Inferno vs. Charlotte Checkers Carolina Coliseum 7:30pm

This is the last game of the season between the Checkers and Inferno. The Checkers are in first place in the East Division with 80 points (37-22-6) and have already qualified for the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Inferno is 4-3-2 this season and 15-6-4 all-time against the Checkers.

Saturday, March 26th Inferno @ Greenville Grrrowl Bi-Lo Center 7:05pm

The Inferno is 6-0-1 against the Grrrowl this season and 22-6-2 all-time. The Grrrowl is in fourth place in the East Division with 71 points (33-24-5). The Inferno will face Greenville one more time this season.

Friday, March 18th Inferno 2 SOUTH CAROLINA 4

The South Carolina Stingrays steal a 4-2 win over the Inferno as they increase their lead in the East Division standings by 4 points ahead of Columbia. Joey Tenute scored two goals at 4:02 and 12:06 for the Stingrays in the first period with assists to Matt Reid and Trevor Johnson on both goals. Columbia's Sean Owens brought the Inferno to within one goal at 10:27 of the second period as he nets his fourth goal of the season on the power play. Chanse Fitzpatrick and D'Arcy McConvey had the assists. Johnson scored for the Stingrays at 18:08 on a shorthanded goal to give them a 2-goal lead. Brad Ralph scored less than a minute into the third period on the power play as the Inferno trail 3-2. Rich Peverley increased the Stingrays lead 4-2 at 5:52.

Saturday, March 19th INFERNO 3 Mississippi 2 (OT)

Eric Boulton notched the overtime game-winning goal for the Inferno as they defeat the Mississippi Sea Wolves 3-2. After a scoreless first period, Walker McDonald tipped in his eighth goal of the season with a pass from Boulton and Matt Ulwelling. At 13:57, Mississippi tied the game with a goal on the power play by Nick Greenough. Columbia's Brad Ralph gave the Inferno a 2-1 lead as he scored through the legs of goaltender Randy Petruk. Steve Burgess and D'Arcy McConvey had the assists. The Sea Wolves tied the game for the second time at 17:10 with a shorthanded goal by Darryl Campbell. Rob McVicar was between the pipes for the Inferno stopping 24 of 26 shots on goal.

Sunday, March 20th INFERNO 4 Gwinnett 1

D'Arcy McConvey scored two goals and one assist and goaltender Mike Minard stopped 50 of 51 shots on goal as the Inferno skate past the Gwinnett Gladiators 4-1. Matt Ulwelling scored his 14th goal of the season at 10:16 of the first period with help from McConvey and Minard. Gwinnett tied the game at 3:09 of the second period. McConvey scored the next two goals at 5:14 and 11:00 to give the Inferno a 3-1 lead. Eric Boulton added the extra goal at 19:14 of the third period on an empty net. This is the second win in a row for the Inferno.
