Defenseman Van Hoof Assigned to Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC (March 21, 2005) – The Columbia Inferno announce that defenseman Jeremy Van Hoof has been assigned by the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons.

Van Hoof, 23, played in 59 games for the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) this season netting 3 goals and 19 assists, including 56 penalty minutes. The 6'2, 212 lbs. Lindsay, Ontario native is under contract with the NHL's 2004 Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He has also played for the Pensacola Ice Pilots during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons and saw some action in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and the Springfield Falcons.

Inferno players Andy Berg and Erik Eaton were both waived on Sunday.
