Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- After four shutout innings by the bullpen, the Indianapolis Indians offense stranded the game-tying runner at third base in the bottom of the ninth inning to lose to the St. Paul Saints on Wednesday afternoon, 3-2.
Facing a 3-1 deficit entering their final half inning, Bligh Madris led off the rally with his 20th double of the season for the Indians (54-61). With two outs and two runners on, Taylor Davis singled home Madris and Ethan Paul walked to load the bases with the top of the order coming up. Yennier Cano (S, 2) got a groundout of Tucupita Marcano to end the threat.
Both teams traded runs in the second inning to begin the scoring, the Indians tying the game at 1-1 on an RBI single off the bat of John Nogowski. Hunter Owen opened up the frame with a one-out double off the wall in left-center field.
The Saints (60-56) scored one in the third and one in the fourth off Tanner Anderson (L, 2-4) to take a 3-1 lead. Beau Burrows (W, 3-5) allowed just one run over 6.1 innings in his fourth outing at Victory Field this season.
The Indians will look to win their first win of the series on Thursday night at 7:05 PM ET. RHP James Marvel (5-6, 5.24) is set to face off against RHP Derek Law (1-0, 3.20).
