Indians Return Home to Shut out Tides

April 29, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Wilfredo Boscan continued Indianapolis' run of dominant starting pitching with five shutout frames to help the Indians claim a 3-0 win over Norfolk on Friday night at Victory Field.

Indians starting pitchers have surrendered one run over their last 24 innings. They've struck out 34 in that span.

Boscan (2-2) received the win, while Odrisamer Despaigne (0-4) took the loss for Norfolk (8-14).

Indianapolis (11-9) got on the board first thanks to a leadoff triple from Adam Frazier, his first of the year. Jung Ho Kang lofted a ball to center, scoring Frazier on a sacrifice fly before Josh Bell ripped a double to right.

Critical insurance was tacked on in the seventh. Despite grounding into a double play, four base hits and a hit batter managed to plate two runs to make the score 3-0.

Cory Luebke worked three shutout innings on Major League rehab. He struck out four and gave up just two hits. Apart from his work this season, he had pitched seven total innings since 2012 due to injury.

The two teams resume play tomorrow for MARVEL Super Hero Night at Victory Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
