Pigs Open Series with Buffalo

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will open a three-game set against the Buffalo Bisons on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch of the series opener is slated for 7:05 p.m.

RHP Mark Appel (3-0, 1.62) gets the ball for the Pigs on Friday night. The Houston native got the win on Saturday at Pawtucket after allowing two runs on five hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts in five innings of work. Over three starts this season, Appel has fanned 14 batters over 16.2 IP.

RHP Drew Hutchison (0-1, 4.11) will be on the bump for manager Gary Allenson's squad. Hutchison's last start came with the Blue Jays on Sunday when he gave up two runs on four hits while walking three and fanning five over 5.2 IP in a win against Oakland. In three starts with Buffalo this season, the right-hander has held righties to a .171 average (6-35).

After hitting a solo shot in the ninth inning on Wednesday, IronPigs 1B Tommy Joseph has now hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games. In that time, Joseph is hitting .404-4-9 (19-47, 5 2B, 2 BB, 5 R).

The first 5,000 fans will receive a 2016 Magnet Schedule courtesy of Sacred Heart Hospital. There will also be Friday Night Fireworks presented by Dorney Park following the game.
