Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the first game of a three-game set from Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 2-1 series loss to Rochester back in Buffalo. The Bisons are 7-7 on the road this season and just 2-5 at home.
Last Game (ROC 4, BUF 0)
Although the Bisons did not strike out yesterday, they couldn't score in a 4-0 defeat to the Red Wings. Rochester's Logan Darnell's nine-inning effort was the third complete game thrown against the Herd already this season. Former IronPigs RHP Chris Leroux allowed just one earned run in six innings in the loss for Buffalo.
vs. Lehigh Valley (0-0)
The Bisons will face the IronPigs 17 times this year in the IL's unbalanced schedule, one fewer than in 2015. The Bisons won the season-series last year, 10-8. However, the Herd won the first seven contests of the year and Lehigh Valley rallied for eight wins in the final 11 contests.
Drew Hutchison
RHP Drew Hutchison will make his fourth Bisons start tonight. The righty was recalled by Toronto for a spot start this past Sunday and defeated Oakland with 5.2 innings of two-run baseball. All three of Hutchison's Bisons starts have been on the road, including a six-inning effort on April 18 in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (ND, 10H, 5 R/ER, 6K).
Domonic Brown
OF Domonic Brown is tied for 2nd in the International League with his 16 RBI. The slugger has reached base in 14 of his last 16 games with a .265 average (18-68) and four walks. Brown spent the first 10 years of his career in the Phillies system and hit .281 with 37 doubles, 15 home runs and 90 RBI in 181 career games with the IronPigs.
Jesus Montero
DH Jesus Montero is tied with Lehigh Valley's Cam Perkins for the longest active hit streak in the International League at 12 games. Montero has averaged .321 (17-53) with four doubles, a home run, seven RBI and six runs scored during his streak. Montero's 26 hits on the season are tied for the most in the IL while his 38 total bases are third for third. Montero has reached safely in 18 of his 20 games.
April 29th
This has been the date of some impressive Bisons' feats in recent years. In 2014, RHP Marcus Stroman threw six no-hit innings with 10 strikeouts in a 4-1 win over the Bats. On this day in 2010, RHP R.A. Dickey retired 27 in a row after a lead off single in a 4-0 win against Durham. Twelve years ago, the Herd scored 25 times in a 25-13 win in Rochester in 2004.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (10-13) were off on Thursday and open up a three-game set in Tampa Bay tonight with former Bisons RHP Aaron Sanchez on the mound. Toronto is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Chicago White Sox and is now four games back of the 1st place Baltimore Orioles in the AL East division.
