Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (12/8/14) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Monday that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads have acquired defenseman Michal Spacek from the Stockton Thunder in exchange for future considerations.
Spacek (pronounced "Michael SPAH-check") has appeared in 35 games at the ECHL level in his career, all in Stockton. His first professional goal came last season at CenturyLink Arena against Idaho on January 16, 2014. Spacek is a native of the Czech Republic and spent five seasons playing in the Czech U-18 and U-20 development leagues before coming to the United States.
The 22-year-old blue-liner is expected to be available for the Steelheads Friday night when the team hosts the Alaska Aces. With the acquisition, Idaho has seven defensemen on its roster - Spacek, Matt Case, Patrick Cullity, Charlie Dodero, Troy Vance, Eamonn McDermott and Colin Shea.
The Steelheads remain on home ice Friday and Saturday, December 11 and 12, to host the Alaska Aces. Saturday night is the annual Teddy Bear Toss event, where fans are encouraged to bring a plush, unbreakable toy to throw on the ice when Idaho nets its first goal of the game. The toys will be collected and donated to the United States Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" campaign. Fans who do not have a toy to throw at the game have an opportunity to buy one, while supplies last, from the Idaho Steelheads Booster Club.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
