Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (12/8/14) - Specially-designed, blue-and-orange themed hockey jerseys worn by the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads generated nearly $16,000 for St. Luke's Children's Hospital last week.
Between the silent auction for the jerseys, which featured a Boise State University logo on the front, raffle and fund-raising ticket sales, the final amount collected by St. Luke's Children's Hospital was $15,730. Dating back to 1998, the Steelheads have now raised over $480,000 via specialty jersey auctions for local charities and non-profit organizations. The Steelheads have a chance to go over the half-million dollar threshold when the team hosts its annual "Pink in the Rink" jersey auction on March 6-7.
Defensemen Patrick Cullity and Colin Shea led the way by generating $1,500 each when their jerseys were purchased outright. Goaltender Olivier Roy's jersey, along with Steve Quailer, David deKastrozza, Devin DiDiomete, James Livingston, Matt Case and Mike Dalhuisen, sold for over $500 as well.
The Steelheads remain on home ice Friday and Saturday, December 11 and 12, to host the Alaska Aces. Saturday night is the annual Teddy Bear Toss event, where fans are encouraged to bring a plush, unbreakable toy to throw on the ice when Idaho nets its first goal of the game. The toys will be collected and donated to the United States Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" campaign. Fans who do not have a toy to throw at the game have an opportunity to buy one, while supplies last, from the Idaho Steelheads Booster Club.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
