LAST WEEK'S RECAP
Overall Picture: The Greenville Road Warriors (13-9-0-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, continued their dominance at home last week and scored a pair of convincing wins over the Orlando Solar Bears to move into third place in the East Division. On Thursday, forward Chris McCarthy earned his first professional multi-goal game (2g) and goaltender Jeff Malcolm made 37 saves as the Warriors topped Orlando 4-1 on SANDLAPPER Securities Rink.
Just 24 hours later, Greenville's offense ignited for five goals in a 5:02 span of the first period en route to a 7-2 blowout of the Solar Bears on "Teddy Bear Toss" night. Forwards Kyle Jean and Trevor Parkes each scored twice, while Vinny Saponari notched a career-best four assists in his 100th professional game. Between the pipes, Malcolm turned aside 42 of 44 shots for his sixth straight win at home. The victory extended the Road Warriors' win streak to three games overall.
