
Ice Pilots Lose 5-3 at Charlotte

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots lost to the Charlotte Checkers 5-3 in front of 4,511 fans at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday night.
Charlotte's Nathan Gillies scored the first goal of the game on a breakaway beating Ice Pilots goalie Todd Ford at the 16:14 mark of the first period to give the Checkers a 1-0 lead. Dusty Jamieson scored a power play goal at the 18:28 mark of the first period to give Charlotte a 2-0 lead.
Adam Courchaine scored a power play goal at the 2:52 mark of the second period and Dallas Steward tipped in a shot from Eric Braff pass Charlotte goalie Jeff Glass at the 16:24 mark to tie the game at 2.
Steven Later scored his fifth goal of the season with 36 seconds left in the second period to give the Ice Pilots their first lead of the game 3-2.
Charlotte tied the game at 3 on a goal by Jake Ortmeyer with wrist shot from the near boards at the 5:26 mark of the third period. Dusty Jamieson scored his second goal of the game at the 11:09 mark of the third period to give Charlotte a 4-3 lead.
Jamieson scored his third goal of the game on an empty netter with 23 seconds left to go to give Charlotte a 5-3 win.
The Ice Pilots had 22 shots on goal and went 1-9 on the power play. Charlotte had 37 shots on goal and went 1-6 on the power play. Todd Ford was the losing goalie for the Ice Pilots and Jeff Glass picked up the win in goal for Charlotte.
The Ice Pilots record drops to 15-20-3 for 33 points and Charlotte improves their record to 19-16-3 for 41 points.
Before the game on Tuesday, Ice Pilots goalie Todd Ford was named the Reebok/ECHL goalie of the week for posting a 4-0 record last week with a1.98 goals against average and .950 save percentage during the week of January 9 - January 16. Forward Adam Courchaine was also named runner up for the In Glas Co/ECHL Player of the week scoring 2 goals, 6 assists for 8 points in the four games.
The Ice Pilots will end their eight game road trip on Friday at Florida with a 6:30 p.m. central time face-off. The pre game show on the Ice Pilots Hockey Network begins at 6:15 p.m. central time. The Ice Pilots next home game is this Saturday, January 21 vs. Gwinnett at
