Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
Last Weeks Highlights:
2/23/05 > Long Beach 4 vs. Las Vegas 3
The Ice Dogs won their fourth in a row Wednesday night, defeating the Las Vegas Wranglers by a score of 4-3. Marco Rosa got Long Beach on the board first, just 1:10 into the game unassisted. Evan Cheverie then gave the Ice Dogs a 2-0 lead with a power play goal. Las Vegas cut the deficit in half before the Ice Dogs scored two more to go up 4-1 on goals by Dan Watson and Cheverie. The Wranglers scored two more, but the Ice Dogs held on for the win. Olivier Michaud won his fifth straight, making 24 saves.
2/25/05 > Long Beach 0 vs. Bakersfield 5
Going for their fifth win in a row, the wheels fell off as the Ice Dogs fell to the Condors 5-0. Kevin St. Jaques had two goals and an assist, and Vlad Serov and Brad Mehalko each added three assists to hand the Ice Dogs a tough loss at home. Yutaka Fukufuji earned the shutout with 42 saves, and Olivier Michaud made 24 saves in the loss.
2/26/05 > Long Beach 1 vs. Idaho 2
In front of the largest crowd in three seasons, 7447, the Ice Dogs were unable to generate enough offense to come back against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads. Idaho took a 2-0 lead in the second period with two goals just 1:04 apart from each other before Joe Cardarelli was able to make it 2-1 with an assist from Christian Larrivee. Unfortunately, the score would remain 2-1 until the final buzzer, handing the Ice Dogs their second straight loss. Olivier Michaud had 19 saves in goal for Long Beach.
