Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs dug themselves a hole too deep to crawl out of in a 6-3 loss to the Fresno Falcons Friday night at Long Beach Arena. The defeat was the fourth straight and eighth in the last ten games for Long Beach (19-43-4).

The Ice Dogs jumped to an early lead on Trent Clark's goal at 17:02 in the first period when he maneuvered along the left-side boards and fired a close-range shot past Fresno goaltender Terry Friesen.

Fresno (32-27-8), the defending Taylor Cup Champions, scored twice in the second period to take the lead. Jason McBain's short-hand goal at 16:28 marked the 17th time this season the Ice dogs have allowed a goal while on the power-play, tied for most in the league. David Haas banged in a goal with less than one second remaining in the second period to give the Falcons the lead.

Fresno went on to score four more goals in the third period with Haas scoring his second goal on the night at 1:21 into the period, beating goaltender B.J. Boxma.

Ice Dogs' Denis Ladoucuer fired a shot from the right face-off circle at 4:31 to lift the spirits of the 2,395 in attendance. However, Falcons' Jason Weaver scored a power-play goal less than two minutes later. Glen Gulutzan made it 5-2 on his goal at 12:19. Tyrel Frisky scored his fourth goal and fifth point in four games with Long Beach on his rebound goal at 16:27. Kris Porter added another Falcon goal at 18:49 for the final 6-3 score.
