Fresno Falcons News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons scored six times in the game's final 23:32 to cruise to a 6-3 victory against the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Friday at Long Beach Arena.

Long Beach's Trent Clark scored the only goal of the first period at 17:02 after he beat Falcons goaltender Terry Friesen with a wrist shot from the slot. Fresno still trailed 1-0 late in the second when the Ice Dogs gained their fifth power play of the contest. Despite skating down a man, Fresno defenseman Jason McBain joined a two-on-two rush and took a perfect feed from Jason Weaver before beating B.J. Boxma for his first short-handed goal as a Falcon at 16:28 of the second to tie the game at one. Fresno went on the power play with 10 seconds left in the frame and took advantage when David Haas knocked home a rebound with just .4 seconds remaining to take a 2-1 lead to the third.

Haas notched his second of the night early in the third off a pretty cross-ice pass from Rob Bonneau at 1:21. Long Beach made it a one-goal game again when Denis Ladouceur scored unassisted at 4:31. But Fresno's Jason Weaver answered with the eventual game-winner less than two minutes later on the power play, and Glen Gulutzan ripped a slapshot by Boxma for his 12th of the year at 12:19 to stake the Falcons to a 5-2 advantage. Tyrel Frisky and Kris Porter each added goals late in the game for Long Beach and Fresno, respectively, for the final 6-3 margin in favor of the Falcons.

Coupled with last Saturday's 6-2 victory against the San Diego Gulls, Fresno has now won two straight games since suffering through a season-high eight-game winless streak. The Falcons are 32-27-8 with 72 points.

They remain on the road tomorrow night when they visit the Bakersfield Condors at Centennial Garden. All of the live play-by-play action can be heard on 103.1 FM, The Mountain Cat, beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the Mail Boxes, Etc. Pre-game Show.

Fresno then returns to Selland Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 1 and 2, for its final home games of the season against the Bakersfield Condors and Idaho Steelheads, respectively. Tickets are still available for both games at the Selland Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
