
Hurricanes Sign Luke Cozens

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Tuesday they have signed 2006-born forward Luke Cozens to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Cozens, 16, was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the seventh round (140th overall) in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. The Whitehorse, YT, product has had a standout season with the Yale Hockey Academy U18 Prep team where he is tied for second in team scoring having recorded 39 points (15g-24a) along with just two penalty minutes in 29 regular season games. He has also appeared in two games with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the British Columbia Junior-A Hockey League as an affiliate.
Cozens skated in 34 games with the Yale U17 Prep team in 2021-2022 totaling 31 points (12g-19a) with eight penalty minutes. The 5'11, 155-pound forward added seven points in three post-season games last year. He is currently teammates with fellow Hurricanes prospects Nolan Viesner, Shea Busch and Will Sharpe on the Yale U18 team.
Luke is the younger brother of former Hurricanes' captain and current Buffalo Sabre Dylan Cozens. Dylan appeared in 179 regular season games with the 'Canes from 2016 to 2020 finishing with 223 points and sits 18th all-time in Hurricanes' franchise scoring while sitting top-20 in franchise goals (95) and assists (128).
The Hurricanes return to action on Friday when they visit the Prince Albert Raiders at 6:00pm MT. Lethbridge will return to the ENMAX Centre on Friday, March 10th when they welcome the Regina Pats at 7:00pm.
