Humberto Sanchez And Paul Bush Back On Active Roster

(Trenton, NJ)-The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Humberto Sanchez has been activated from the Temporary Inactive List. Also, RHP Jason Stephens has been transferred to Tampa (High-A) from Trenton. In addition, RHP Paul Bush has been activated from the Disabled List, and OF Noah Hall has been placed on the Disabled List (retroactive to 8/8).

Sanchez was called up from Tampa on July 21st, and has appeared in five games for Trenton. He is 0-0 with a 7.00 ERA. In nine appearances for Tampa, the right-hander went 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA. In 2008, Sanchez spent most of the season with the Gulf Coast League Yankees, and appeared in 12 games (nine starts). He was 0-1 with a 2.31 ERA. He also made one appearance for the Thunder, and two appearances with the New York Yankees. The Bronx, New York native was acquired by the Yankees from the Detroit Tigers along with RHP Kevin Whelan and RHP Anthony Claggett in exchange for OF Gary Sheffield on 11/10/06

Stephens is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 11 games (six starts) for Trenton this season. He has had two separate stints with the Thunder this season. He was 2-4 with a 5.45 ERA in eight games (six starts) with Tampa (High-A). He struck out 28 and walked 12 in 33 innings for the Tampa Yankees. Stephens also has appeared in three games (one start) for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (Triple-A), and had a 1-1 record with a 5.40 ERA. The Tallmadge, Ohio native spent most of the 2008 season with Charleston (Low-A). He appeared in 17 games (eight starts) and went 2-3 with a 3.02 ERA. He was selected to the 2008 South Atlantic League All-Star Game. He also went 3-5 with a 4.47 ERA in 11 games (eight starts) for Tampa. He made one start for Trenton on August 8th against Akron. Stephens was drafted by the Yankees in the 6th round of the 2003 draft out of Tallmadge High School.

Bush was placed on the Disabled List back on August 1st, and has split the season between Trenton and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A). With the Thunder, he has posted a 1-1 record with a 2.19 ERA in three starts. For Scranton, he posted a 2-2 record with a 4.86 ERA in seven appearances (two starts). In 2008, Bush pitched in the Braves organization, and spent the majority of the season with Mississippi (Double-A) in the Southern League. For Mississippi, Bush went 0-1 with a 3.24 ERA in 12 appearances. The Titusville, Florida native was drafted by the Braves in the 24th round of the 2002 draft out of Georgia Southwestern State University.

Hall has appeared in 48 games for Trenton this season, and has batted .253 with two home runs and 25 RBI. He was signed by the Yankees out of non-affiliated baseball on May 25th. Prior to joining the Thunder, Hall had a .319 BA with four home runs and 21 RBI in 25 games for Somerset (IND) in the Atlantic League. In 2008, he split time in the Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners organizations. For Charlotte (Triple-A), he hit .292 in 15 games. Hall also appeared in 26 games for Birmingham (Double-A) and had a .226 BA with 12 RBI. He finished the season with West Tennessee (Double-A), and batted .302 with seven RBI in 15 games. Hall spent most of the 2007 season in Trenton and batted .292 in 82 games with nine home runs and 50 RBI.

Trenton begins a three-game series tonight against the Reading Phillies from Waterfront Park. RHP Lance Pendleton (0-1, 9.31) will start for Trenton, and will be opposed by Reading RHP Mike Stutes (8-6, 3.86).
