New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Bowie, MD- Brad Emaus blasted his ninth home run of the season to extend his season-best hitting streak to 11 games, and later walked and scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning, but the Bowie Baysox took the opener of a three-game series by outlasting the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 4-3, in 12 innings on Tuesday night at Prince George's Stadium.
Ambiorix Concepion (3-for-6, 2 2B, RBI, R) ripped a one-out double down the left field line off losing pitcher Leon Boyd in the home half of the 12th for Bowie (61-54). Concepion took third on a wild pitch and trotted home with the winning run on Adam Donachie's sacrifice fly to left.
Boyd (1-3) allowed a run on one hit and one intentional walk in 1.2 innings to suffer the loss.
Ryan Ouellette (4-3) worked three shutout innings of one-hit relief to register the win, fanning three.
The Fisher Cats (51-64) fought back from an early 3-0 deficit. Emaus (1-for-4, HR, BB, 2 R) ended Bowie starter Pedro Beato's night with a solo shot over the left field wall to start the sixth inning, slicing the Baysox' lead to 3-2.
In the eighth, Emaus drew a leadoff walk from Chad Thall, moved to second when David Cooper (2-for-5) laced a single to center and scored on a double-play grounder that tied the game, 3-3.
The Baysox grabbed a 3-0 lead when they scored three two-out runs in the bottom of the first inning against Kenny Rodriguez. Miguel Abreu (1-for-5, RBI, R, HBP) grounded a run-scoring single to left, scoring Danny Figueroa (1-for-4, BB, HBP, R), who walked. A throwing error by left fielder Todd Donovan allowed Josh Bell (3-for-6, 2B, R), who singled, to also score on the play. Concepion smashed a double down the left field line to score Abreu with the third run of the inning.
The Fisher Cats got a run back in the top of the third against Beato when Jonathan Diaz (1-for-4, BB, R) drew a leadoff walk, Donovan (1-for-6) beat out a bunt single and Scott Campbell (2-for-6, 2B) plated Diaz with a single to right, trimming Bowie's lead to 3-1.
New Hampshire turns to right-hander Adrian Martin (2-2, 3.45) on Wednesday night at 7:05pm in the middle game of the three-game series against Bowie right-hander Brandon Erbe (3-3, 2.08) at Prince George's Stadium. Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
