(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The first place Evansville Otters (54-34) received two Frontier League Postseason Awards on Sunday with All-Star 3B Shayne Houck being named Most Valuable Player and Andy McCauley being selected as Manager of the Year.

Houck leads the Otters in all triple crown categories with a .311 batting average, 22 home runs and 62 runs batted in. He has more home runs than anyone else in the Frontier League this season and his 22 home runs are a new Otters single season record. He has also set the Otters record for most total bases in a season (190) and still has six games to be played this regular season.

"Shayne has been the true definition of MVP for us this year," said McCauley. "I am so happy he got the recognition by the league that he deserves. He has worked tirelessly all year and has been the best, most consistent hitter in the league."

Houck is the first Otter, in the 20 year history of the franchise, to be named MVP of the Frontier League. The MVP Award is named for Morgan Burkhart who was once described by esteemed baseball writer Peter Gammons as the "Babe Ruth of the Frontier League." Houck also was named a post-season All-star at third base as well.

McCauley has guided Evansville to the playoffs this season for the first time since 2006. Since taking over as the manager of the Otters in July 2010, McCauley has increased the team's win total each season from 35 his first year to a franchise record tying 54 victories this summer.

"The award is a fitting tribute to Andy's managerial prowess," said Otters owner Bill Bussing. "Since arriving midway through the 2010 season, he has methodically guided our franchise back into the upper echelons of the Frontier League, and he's done it with compassion, humor and integrity."

This is the second time McCauley has been honored with the Roger Hanners Award for Manager of the Year. He also received the award in 1999 when he led the London Werewolves to the Frontier League Championship and in 2004 for his work with the Quebec Capitales in the Northern League.
