
Offense Lacks as Aviators Fall 4-1

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Tanner Tripp held the Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, to just three hits as he earned his third straight win for the Traverse City Beach Bums 4-1 this afternoon at Wuerfel Park.
The Aviators offense had just one hit through seven innings and would finish the game with just three total. Each hit went for extra bases as Michael Hur, Ryan Breen, and Elijah Trail each recorded a hit in the game.
Trail would break up the shut out in the top of the seventh inning with his first professional home run, a solo shot over the left field wall, to give the Aviators their only run of the game.
Kyle Hassna was on the mound for the Aviators this afternoon and earned the loss after pitching 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out four.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Jose Vargas hit a two-RBI single that scored Jeff DeBlieux and Carlos Berroa to give the Beach Bums a 2-0 lead.
Another run would score in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Taylor that scored DeBlieux to give the Beach Bums a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Beach Bums put the game away with a solo shot by Vargas, his sixth of the year, to give make the score 4-1.
The Aviators will return home to Rockford to finish out the 2014 campaign with a three-game series with the Frontier Greys beginning with a double-header at 6:05 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3. The first game of the double-header will be a continuation of a game that was rained out earlier in the season.
Fans will only need one ticket to attend both games and can purchase tickets online at www.rockfordaviators.com or by calling the Aviators box office at 815-885-2255.
It will be Guaranteed Win Wednesday at Aviators Stadium and if the Aviators fail to win either game of the double-header, fans will be able to use their ticket stub for free admission to the season finale on Thursday, September 4 at 6:35 p.m.
