Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Eastlake,OH - A night after being shutout by the Lake County Captains, the Bowling Green Hot Rods were once again held scoreless, as they were blanked by a score of 8-0 on Tueaday night at Classic Park.
Lake County begin their impressive offensive showing in the second inning with a two-run homer from first basemen Emmanuel Tapia as part of a three-run inning against Hot Rods starter Kenny Rosenberg (L, 0-2).
Tapia paced the Captains offense, finishing the night 4-for-4 with three runs batted in after adding another RBI single in the third inning.
The Captains received additional offensive contributions on a sacrifice fly by outfielder Gabriel Mejia in the second inning, a RBI double by second basemen Jorma Rodriguez in the sixth inning and a bases-loaded walk drawn by shortstop Luke Wakamatsu in the fifth inning. The other two runs were scored either via wild pitches or via errors from the Bowling Green defense.
Offensively, the Hot Rods were led by third basemen Adrian Rondon and first basemen Nate Lowe, who collected two hits apiece. Catcher Rene Pinto and outfielder Garrett Whitley had the other two hits for Bowling Green.
Whitley, hitting out of the nine-spot in the order, reached base in all three of his at-bats.
Bowling Green has now been held scoreless in each of their last two games. Their last run came in the eighth inning on Saturday against Fort Wayne.
It is the first time the Hot Rods have been shutout in two straight games since August 19-21 in 2014, where they were blanked in three straight games against Lake County and Lansing.
The Hot Rods will try to salvage the series with the Lake County Captains on Wednesday night. Righty JD Busfield is expected to toe the rubber for Bowling Green while Lake County will counter with lefty Brady Aiken.
First pitch is at 5:30 p.m. central time on Wednesday from Classic Park.
