Homers Propel Istopes to 11-8 Triumph

Albuquerque, NM - For the second-straight night Albuquerque jumped out to an early lead, plating nine runs over the first four innings behind a three-run homer from Carlos Pérez, a solo shot from Elehuris Montero and grand slam by Colton Welker, propelling the Isotopes to an 11-8 win over the Rainiers (3-6) Thursday night at Isotopes park.

The Isotopes (3-6) have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Albuquerque's offense scored at least one run in each of the first four frames. Tim Lopes led the offense with a five-hit performance, four singles and one triple, and two RBI. Pérez registered three hits and three RBI. Welker, Montero and Jonathan Morales tallied two hits. Welker had a game-high four RBI.

Morales and Lopes each registered RBI hits in the eighth for important insurance runs.

In his second career Triple-A start, Matt Dennis tossed 5.1 innings and relented five runs on 10 hits, one walk and two homers. He was credited with the win.

Topes Scope: - Jose Cuevas became the 10 millionth fan through the gates at Isotopes Park.

- In the second inning, Welker belted the second grand slam of the year for the Isotopes to straight-away center.

- Welker swatted two hits, registering his team-leading fifth multi-hit effort in seven games.

-Lopes became the first Topes player this year to tally three, four and five hits in a game for an Isotopes this season. It is his first five-hit game of his career. Perez followed by notching his third hit of the contest.

-The sixteen hits by the Isotopes was the most this season.

-Dennis' 5.1 innings pitched is the longest start this season.

On Deck: The Isotopes are set to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day on the 75th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier in MLB. Every Isotope will wear number 42 in his honor. Right-hander Zach Neal will toe the rubber to start and will be opposed by Jose Mercedes.
