Owen Sound Attack News Release

Hockey Canada announced today its summer camp rosters for their under-17 and under-18 selection camps ahead of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and U17 World Challenge. Four Owen Sound Attack players featured among the 119 players announced today. Second-year forwards Pierce Mbuyi and Cole Zurawski will head to camp in the under-18 program from July 29 to August 1, while incoming rookies Max Delisle and Blake Munnings are off to camp with the under-17 program from July 19 to 23, both at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Equipment Manager Trevor Castonguay will also slot in at the under-18 camp as a guest equipment manager, but is not scheduled to go to the tournament.

"We would like to congratulate Pierce, Cole, Max and Blake on their invites to the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence, this is a fantastic opportunity for the four of them and would like wish them success at their respective camps" said Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray.

Mbuyi and Zurawski both competed for Team Canada last November in Sarnia at the 2024 U17 World Challenge, where Zurawski's Canada White defeated Mbuyi's Canada Red 3-1 in the tournament final. During the 2024 event, Pierce registered 3 goals and 1 assist, while Cole was held off the scoreboard. Mbuyi's OHL Rookie of the Year campaign garnered him an invite to camp for the under-18 World Championships this past spring where he was a late cut from the team. The Attack duo will attempt to make Canada's entry for the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup July 29 to August 1. If named to the team, the pair will then prepare a pair of pre-tournament games on August 7 against Hungary's under-20 team in Budapest, then Slovakia on August 9 at Easton Arena in Piestany, before the tournament opens on August 11 in Brno, Czechia and Trencin, Slovakia.

"Having two players at the under-18 selection camp is incredible. This is a great opportunity for Pierce and Cole to see how they fit in with the elite group that will be compiled from across Canada" said DeGray when asked the under-18 duo.

Delisle and Munnings will get their first taste of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence at selection camp for the U17 World Challenge. The Attack's first and second round picks from the 2025 OHL Priority Selection have a good chance of sporting the Canada red and white in late October in Truro, Nova Scotia. Delisle, a forward, had 41 goals and 67 assists in 64 games with the Toronto Titans throughout all U16 action, while Munnings, a defenceman, had 7 goals and 26 assists in 42 games with the Quinte Red Devils through all U16 action last year. Delisle and Munnings will hope to leave their best impressions on the Hockey Canada staff at camp running July 19-23, and hopefully be named to Canada Red or Canada White for the U17 World Challenge taking place October 31 to November 8 in Truro, Nova Scotia.

"This is a great introduction for any player who gets to go to this for future Hockey Canada events. They will get an opportunity to see Hockey Canada's expectations and be a part of that process at this early stage in their hockey careers" said DeGray when asked about Delisle and Munnings invites. "Both boys are very deserving of this opportunity and should have a tremendous chance at making the team."
