Hitmen Defeat Pats 4-3 in OT

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen played in front of a vibrant crowd at home on Sunday afternoon vs. the Regina Pats. Calgary fans were well rewarded with an exhilarating 4-3 overtime win.

It was a physical and action filled start to the game at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Regina opened up the scoring late in the first period with a goal from Layton Feist. With the Hitmen trailing headed into the second, Maxim Muranov tied the game with a snipe from the left side beating Regina net minder Kelton Pyne at 6:21 in the second. Entering into the third all tied up, Regina regained the lead at 5:07 with a goal from Easton Armstrong. Riley Fiddler-Schultz found the equalizer at 12:01 beating Connor Bedard off the face off finding the back of the off a touch from Sean Tschigerl. Regina had an answer from Cole Carrier to lead, but Fiddler-Schultz tied it up again with his second goal of the game to push the game to overtime.

At the 2:05 mark of extra time, Blake Stevenson found the back of the net batting it out of the air to win it in extra minutes.

Fiddler-Schultz earned first star with two goals and the assist on the game winner, while Stevenson earned third star of the game. Brayden Peters notched 5,000 career minutes, hitting the milestone after the second period.

The Hitmen will enjoy a full four-day break before facing Edmonton in a home-and-home set next weekend beginning Friday, Mar. 4 in the provincial capital before the return match in Calgary on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 2:00 p.m. That day will be the Bret "The Hitman" Hart game presented by Romero Distilling where Calgary will wear a special jersey that pays tribute to their namesake. Fans are encourage to stick around post-game to witness "Battle at the Dome II" featuring five wrestling matches in an on-ice ring put on by the Hitmen and PWA (Prairie Wrestling Alliance).
