Americans Struggle in Loss to Chiefs

The Americans played the Spokane Chiefs at Spokane Arena tonight, falling 7-1.

Tri-City kept the game close through the first two periods. The Chiefs were able to pull away in the final frame with four third period goals.

Sam Huo scored Tri-City's lone goal on the power play in the third period. Marc Lajoie took a shot from the high slot and Huo was able to knock in the bouncing rebound while Chiefs goaltender Mason Beaupit was out of position.

The Americans had seven power play opportunities but were only able to capitalize on the one.

Tomas Suchanek started in net and played the majority of the game. He was relieved in net by Nick Avakyan after the seventh goal in the middle of the third period. Suchanek stopped 17 of 24 shots faced. Avakyan went on to turn aside all ten shots faced through the remainder of the game.
