Higgins, Paris, Zanoski To AHL

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Chris Higgins has been recalled by the Gladiators' American Hockey League affiliate Syracuse Crunch. In addition, forward Tom Zanoski and defenseman Drew Paris have been called up to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. Higgins returns for his third stint in Syracuse this season, while Paris and Zanoski return to Toronto, where they each played in one game on March 9th.

Higgins, a 23-year-old Lynnfield, Massachusetts native made his pro debut with the Crunch in six games this season after skating four collegiate seasons at Boston University. In 159 games at BU, Higgins amassed 49 goals and 84 assists for 133 points, including a career high 48 in 2008-09, his senior year. Higgins has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 20 outings with the Gladiators this season.

Paris, who was recently named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team, is a 21-year-old Point-Claire, Quebec native. He made his pro debut in five games with the AHL's Rochester Americans last season after skating five junior seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. This season, the first-year pro has 12 goals and 32 assists for 44 points in 68 games to lead all Gwinnett rookies and all league rookie defensemen.

Zanoski, a 26-year-old third-year pro out of Dalhousie University, makes his sixth trip to the AHL this season. He has seen time with Binghamton, Albany, Lake Erie, and Toronto, registering two goals and five assists in 20 total games in the AHL this season. In 42 games with the Gladiators, the Brampton, Ontario native leads the team with 25 goals and has 22 assists for 47 points.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL at home tonight vs. South Carolina at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
