Elmira Jackals News Release
The ECHL announced Wednesday that Elmira Jackals center Justin Donati has been selected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team. Donati is the first Jackal to receive an ECHL yearly honor in Elmira's three seasons in the league.
Donati, who was one of the Jackals' two All-Star selections this season, leads ECHL rookies with 38 goals, 58 assists, and 96 points in 2009-2010. He is third in the league in scoring, and along with twin brother Tyler Donati, has brought the Jackals to the top of the ECHL in offensive production with 3.80 goals per game. The Jackals have set a club record this season with 262 goals.
If Donati records four more points this season, he and Tyler would become the first brothers in professional hockey history to each record 100 points on the same team in the same season.
The All-Rookie Team was determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, who were asked to select a goaltender, two defensemen, and three forwards. A rookie is defined as a player who has played in less than 25 professional games prior to the start of the current season.
2009-2010 ECHL All-Rookie Team:
F Evan Barlow, Idaho Steelheads (55 gp, 32 g, 40 a, 72 pts, +28)
