Bakersfield Condors News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (36-29-4-1, 77pts) scored three times in the first period and held on for a 5-4 victory over the Stockton Thunder (33-28-2-7, 75pts) Wednesday night at Stockton Arena. The victory drops the Condors magic number for clinching the division title to three points.

The Condors and Thunder entered play tied for first place in the Pacific Division, but a strong start by Bakersfield doomed the Thunder. C Gino Guyer (at 7:16), LW Dan Kissel (10:41) and F Jean-Marc Beaudoin (13:06) each scored to give the Condors a 3-0 lead in the opening frame.

F Stephane Goulet scored a breakaway goal at 4:04 of the middle frame to make it 4-0. C Chris D'Alvise notched his 33rd of the season just 16 seconds later to put the Thunder on the board. RW Nick Kemp later put home his ninth of the season to regain the four-goal lead, and the Condors looked poised to cruise to the win.

Midway through the third stanza the Thunder stormed back. D Bryan Young cut the lead to 5-2 at 10:10. Then a pair of late desperation tallies from C Oren Eizenman, at 18:57 and D'Alvise at 19:25, while shorthanded, made it 5-4. A frantic last-second effort by Stockton could not yield the equalizer, and the Condors picked up the win.

Notes from the Nest: LW Dan Kissel has five goals in his four-game goal streak... F Jean-Marc Beaudoin is the 13th player to score his first professional goal with the Condors this season... 12 different players recorded at least a point for Bakersfield... RW Ryan Menei had the only multi-point game for the Condors (2a)... The 2nd place Stockton Thunder head to Alaska for their final two games of the regular season this weekend... Three Stars: 1. Ryan Menei (BAK); 2. Nick Kemp (BAK); 3. Chris D'Alvise (STK).
