Hickory Schools Legends On Education Day

Hickory evened up the four game series with Lexington after a 3-1 win over the Legends Wednesday afternoon. The Crawdads scored three runs off of Legends starter, Ryan McKeller sending him to his third straight loss.

McKeller (3-3) worked six innings allowing three runs on five hits. Ryan Thompson pitched two perfect innings before turning the game over to Jeff Wigdahl who tossed a scoreless ninth inning.

Kyle Bloom (2-1) settled down after early wildness to record his second win of the year. Bloom pitched five scoreless innings while walking five for Hickory.

Two Lexington errors led to an unearned run in the second inning. Antonio Sucre reached on Bryan Triplett's miscue and scored on a mistake by Clint McGill. Mike Hofius singled in Neil Walker in the third inning to double Hickory's lead.

A.J. Johnson scored from third on an error by Edgar Babilonia in the fourth to make it 3-0. The Legends broke up the Crawdads shutout in the seventh when Triplett singled in Babilonia.

Game three of the series is set for Thursday night. Ronnie Martinez will square off against Matt Guillory. First pitch is set for 7:05, Legends Network coverage begins at 6:50.
