May 18, 2005 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Hagerstown Suns News Release
The Hagerstown Suns return home from a four-game road trip on Saturday, May 21st to take on the Lexington Legends in their most important series of the year. All season the Legends and Suns have battled for first place, and will share the field for the first time on Saturday.
The four-game homestand at Municipal Stadium features the best hitting team in the league, Hagerstown, against the best pitching team in the league, Lexington. The pivotal set of games also highlights great individual clashes, as both teams have representatives in the top five of nine different offensive categories.
The blockbuster series will be made more enjoyable to fans by a fantastic promotional schedule. The first 1,000 fans at Saturday's game will receive the first of three 25th Anniversary Commemorative Cap giveaways, presented by First Data. The Suns will be paying their respects to the Suns 1980's "era" at Municipal Stadium as the replica caps are circa 1981-style. Game time is 6:35pm.
Sunday's game begins at 1:35pm, but the fun will last long after the final out is recorded as there will be a fan home run hitting contest following the conclusion of the game.
Sundays also feature post-game Kids Run the Bases thanks to Antietam Cable Advertising, pre-game story time with Suns players for kids ages 1-7 presented by the Washington County Arts Council and "Ice Cream Sundays" sponsored by Maugansville Creamery. Plus, every Sunday is also a Herald-Mail Family Sunday where families of 4 can receive 4 hot dogs, sodas, popcorns and tickets (a $52 value) for only $25 with a coupon from Saturday or Sunday's Herald-Mail. Game time is 1:35pm.
Monday, May 23rd, the Suns will feature another "Feed Your Face Monday," courtesy of Ryan's Restaurant, New York Pizzeria & Pub and Cool 95.9fm. Ticket prices are $10 or $12, but food inside the ballpark is free all night long! Game time is 6:35pm.
The final game of the homestand is an Education Day, sponsored by Antietam Cable Advertising and Ad Channel 55. A special start time of 10:35am will allow a full ballpark of local students to attend and cheer on the hometown Suns.
The Suns are the single A affiliate of the New York Mets and are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the Suns at 301.791.6266 or visit us online at www.hagerstownsuns.com.
