Hagerstown Suns News Release

Lakewood, NJ:A great pitcing performance by Lakewood's starter Andy Baldwin was enough for a 3-2 victory over the Suns on an Education Day 11:05am start. Baldwin (1-3) held the high scoring Suns to one run on three hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Grant Psomas had the only two RBI's for Hagerstown. Psomas had an RBI double in the seventh and and RBI single in the ninth. Each time it brought the Suns to within a run, but it wasn't quite enough on this day. The Suns Ambiorix Concepcion struck out to end the game with the tying run, pinch runner Armand Gaerlan, at third base. Closer Jacob Barrack notched his second save of the year after pitching the one run ninth.

Matt Durkin (2-2) managed to go only three innings in his fifth start of the year. Durkin got the loss after giving up two runs on three hits and five walks. Mike Devaney pitched four marvelous innings in relief without allowing a run, and keeping the Suns in the game. The teams have split the first two games of the four game series.

Thursday at 6:35pm RHP Gaby Hernandez goes for the Suns (26-14) against LHP J.A.Happ for Lakewood (14-26).

The Suns come back to Hagerstown on Saturday at 6:35pm against the second place Lexington Legends (24-15) for a four game series. Saturday is the Suns 25th Anniversary Commemorative Hat Giveaway day sponsored by First Data. For tickets info call the Suns at 301-791-6266.
