
Hershey Sends Kroll, Kugryshev to Stingrays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that defenseman Johann Kroll and forward Dmitri Kugryshev have been assigned to the team by the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.
Kroll, 26, joins the Stingrays after appearing in six games with the Bears scoring no points and four penalty minutes. Last season, the Plymouth, MN native dressed in 41 games with the Stingrays earning three goals and 17 assists for 20 points and appeared in all five playoff contests recording three assists. Since joining the Stingrays for the 2008-09 season, Kroll tallied 42 points (4g, 38a) in 81 games and helped the Stingrays capture their ECHL-record third Kelly Cup championship. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman spent four years at The Ohio State University acquiring 27 points (5g, 22a) in 153 games.
Kugryshev, 20, skated in seven games with the Bears registering one assist and two penalty minutes. A second round draft pick (58 overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Kugryshev spent the past two seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) knocking in 161 points (63g, 98a) in 123 games. The 5-foot-11, 193-pound native of Moscow, Russia made his professional debut on October 9, 2010 in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
