CHARLESTON, SC - The Florida Everblades (5-4-0) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end after watching the South Carolina Stingrays (3-3-0) come from behind to collect a 5-3 win in their home opener at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night.

A wild first period saw the Everblades jump all over South Carolina, scoring twice in the first two and a half minutes. Mathieu Roy quieted the excited crowd just 23 seconds into the game on Florida's first shot on net sizzling a shot from just inside the blue line past Stingrays net-minder Jared DeMichiel. Just two minutes later Everblades captain Mike Egener gave Florida a 2-0 lead with his first goal of the year on a slap shot from the left side off a face off win.

From that point, the craziness continued as South Carolina got their skates under them scoring the game's next three goals. The first came at 3:05 when Nikita Kashirsky tipped a point shot past Everblades goaltender Bobby Goepfert.

The key moment of the first period came at 7:21 when the Stingrays were hit with a four minute high-sticking penalty, but it wasn't the Everblades on the power play that too advantage, but instead was the Stingrays collecting a pair of short-handed markers. Pierre-Luc O'Brien scored the first of the two at 8:26 with a shot from the left circle. Rob Ricci then gave the Stingrays the lead at 10:56 beating Goepfert on a breakaway low on the stick side.

Shortly after the power play expired, the Everblades tied the game at three on a deflection in front of the net at 12:39. Fadden's third goal came after Elgin Reid's shot from the left point ricocheted off his body and past DeMichiel. Nick Tarnasky added an assist on the tally as well.

The scoring blitz settled down after that point and the game remained a 3-3 score through the second period as well. Both teams had chances in the second period, with Florida having three power play chances and the Stingrays have a 5-on-3 man advantage for nearly two full minutes, but neither side was able to find the lead goal.

In the third period the game remained tied at three until the midpoint of the frame before Maxime Lacroix fired a one-time shot from the slot over Goepfert's glove at 10:50. Lacroix then gave the Stingrays cushion notching his third goal of the year at 13:59 deflecting a shot from Johann Kroll into the net.

In goal Goepfert took the loss after allowing five goals on 35 shots, dropping his record to 3-2-0. DeMichiel (3-2-0) picked up the win stopping 27 of 30 shots.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 0-of-5, while South Carolina closed out the game 0-of-5.
