November 5, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that goaltender Riley Gill has been traded to the Kalamazoo Wings to complete an October 5th trade that saw Victoria acquire forward Rick Cleaver in exchange for future considerations.
The 24-year old netminder, recently named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Month for October, has appeared in three contests for the Salmon Kings this season posting a 3-0-0 record, which included a league-leading goals against average of 1.33 and save percentage of 0.955, along with one shutout.
The 6-2, 200 lb rookie joined the Salmon Kings this season after beginning his professional career last year with the K-Wings. Prior to finishing the 2009-10 campaign in Kalamazoo, Gill completed a four-year junior career at school as a member of the NCAA's Western Michigan University Broncos.
The Salmon Kings continue their three-game series with the Steelheads tonight and tomorrow at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop for both contests is at 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow's contest is "Canadian Armed Forces" night where the Salmon Kings will celebrate the men and women of uniform as well as the Navy Centennial. The team will be wearing commemorative Navy centennial jerseys, while a select number will be auctioned off live following the contests. Also, great Canadian Armed Forces' displays and exhibits will be on-site! The arena will open at 5:00 p.m. for all fans tomorrow. For tickets call 250-220-7777 or visit www.selectyourtickets.com.
