Herd Channels New York State of Mind and Sweeps Westchester in Season Series Finale

OSHKOSH, Wis - The Wisconsin Herd (32-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, completed the season series sweep of the Westchester Knicks (17-24) with a 115-109 victory on Friday night inside Menominee Nation Arena.

In the absence of Frank Mason III and Cameron Reynolds, four Herd players scored in double figures. D.J. Hogg led all players in scoring, collected his first career 30-point game and set career highs in points (36), field goals (11) and free throws (eight). Shannon Bogues totaled 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while Brandon Randolph tallied career highs in points and field goals. He totaled 20 points on nine made baskets and added three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Justin Patton collected his first double-double with Wisconsin and posted a stat line of 14 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and career-high eight blocks.

Tyler Hall paced all Knicks players and tallied a team-high 23 points on six made threes. Ivan Rabb had 16 points and grabbed 24 rebounds, while JJ Moore recorded 16 points of his own in a reserve role. Kadeem Allen, one of Westchester's Two-Way players, added 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals and Lamar Peters pitched in with 12 points, six assists and three steals.

Hogg set the tone for Friday's contest as the second-year player totaled the first five points of the game. Wisconsin's five-point lead quickly evaporated as the Knicks responded with back-to-back threes by Amir Hinton and Andrew White. After the brief 5-0 deficit, Westchester scored 20 of the next 22 points and led by 13 upon reaching the first media timeout. Following the stoppage, the Herd posted the next nine points which trimmed the Knicks double-digit advantage to four. To stop the Wisconsin run, the road team used a prompt timeout, and once play resumed, Westchester reopened a double figure lead on the heels of consecutive long balls. The Knicks led by as many as 16 points, and as a team, Westchester made eight three-pointers and shot a blistering 50% from the field. Hogg led all scorers with 12 points, but by the end of the opening 12 minutes, the Knicks led 38-24.

Jemerrio Jones opened the scoring to start the second period and scored on an easy lay in. The Herd collected the first nine points of the frame and quickly made it a two-possession game. Conversely, Westchester didn't score for the first four and a half minutes and didn't record its first basket until the 7:22 mark. Luke Maye made it a one-point game on a free throw, and with 4:32 left to play in the half, Randolph gave Wisconsin the lead on a second chance opportunity. The Herd's 41-40 advantage marked its first since the score read 5-0. Wisconsin led by as many as 13 points, and in the process, the Herd outscored Westchester 33-6 in the stanza. The six points allowed were the fewest in any G League quarter this season and they were the fewest since Nov. 15, 2016. In the first half, three Wisconsin players scored in double figures and the Herd led by 57-44 at the intermission.

The Knicks tallied the first points of the second half, but Hogg quickly poured in the next five points to extend Wisconsin's lead to 16. Hogg scored eight of the Herd's first 10 points, which led to Wisconsin opening a 67-48 advantage. The Herd maintained its double-digit lead throughout the quarter, and the team was led by Hogg who scored 10 points in the frame. Wisconsin collected its first 20-point advantage of the night as Bogues scored on a transition bucket with the assist given to Randolph. The Herd led by as many as 21 points in the stanza, despite shooting just 40% from the field. The Knicks outscored Wisconsin by one, but it was the Herd who led by 12 heading into the final 12 minutes.

The start of the fourth quarter belonged exclusively to Westchester as the Knicks opened the period on an 11-0 run. Westchester collected the first three field goals of the frame, which made it an 84-83 game. Despite pulling to within one on a couple occasions, the Knicks never managed to tie or retake the lead. Wisconsin scored six straight points and used a 10-2 run to create some breathing room. The Herd led for the final 31 minutes of the game and notched its 32nd victory this season.

With the win, Wisconsin improves to 4-5 against the Knicks, including 3-0 this season. The Herd now owns a full three-game lead over the Maine Red Claws for the top spot in the Eastern Conference and a 3.5-game lead over the Canton Charge for first place in the Central Division.

Wisconsin will cap its back-to-back with a Saturday night contest against the Capital City Go-Go. The Herd are 2-0 against the Go-Go this season and 3-1 all-time. Tip-off is set for 7PM CT and the game can be found on MYNEW32.
