April 21, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Bisons' offense carried the team to victory for the second straight night in Scranton-Wilkes/Barre, with the Herd besting the RailRiders 6-5 at PNC Field. The Herd scored three runs in top of the eighth to take the lead, thanks to RBI for Jesus Montero, Matt Dominguez, and A.J. Jimenez. Buffalo catcher Jimenez delivered big for the Bisons on Thursday night, going 2-4 with four RBI in his third game of the season.

Earlier in the game, Jimenez connected for a go-head, two-run home run in the third inning off Scranton-Wilkes/Barre's starter Luis Cessa.

In his first appearance since blowing his first save of the year on Sunday, David Aardsma worked into and out of trouble in the eighth, stranding the tying and go-ahead runs on base.

Ryan Tepera came in the seal the victory in the ninth, securing his second save of the season.

Casey Lawrence's struggles continued in his third start of the year. The right-hander lasted 4 2/3 innings, surrendering six hits, four walks, and five earned runs.

Gary Sanchez went deep for the second time in 2016, blasting a home run far over the left field wall to give the RailRiders a 3-2 lead, which lasted until the eighth inning.

Though he pitched only 4 1/3 innings, the RailRiders' Cessa limited Buffalo to two hits and two runs, with only one earned run. He was replaced by reliever Tyler Webb, who set down the first six hitters he faced, striking out four of them, and punching out six hitters overall.

The Herd now heads to Rochester to take on the Red Wings in a three game series from Frontier Field. Chris Leroux will take the mound for the Bisons on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

BISONS NOTES:

Matt Dominguez is now 11-17 at the plate in his last five games... Jesus Montero extended his hitting streak to eight games on Thursday... This was the first game the Bisons batted around this season... Thursday's comeback would have been a rarity in 2015, as Buffalo went 5-62 when trailing after the seventh inning last year... The Bisons scored three runs in an inning for the third time in their last four games.
