Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The RailRiders fell to the Buffalo Bisons at PNC Field last night, 8-1. The Bisons claimed a 2-1 edge in the four-game series.

SLAMMING THE GAVEL: Aaron Judge logged one of SWB's five hits in the loss. He has hit safely in 11 of his 12 games played including six straight. He has slashed .327/.352/.531/.882 by going 16-for-49 with six extra-base hits. He ranks among the IL's best in extra-base hits (T-3rd, 6). He has been particularly effective against right-handed pitchers (12-for-30, 4XBH, .400/.441/.600/1.041). Judge has hit second in all of his games played thus far, something he did in just 10 of his 61 games played at Triple-A a season ago. Most of his SWB time last year came in the four (21 games) or five-hole (27 games). However, he mostly hit second at Double-A in 2015 (30 games) and at both levels his best performances came in the two hole. At Double-A last year he slashed .310/.370/.579/.949 batting second. At Triple-A, the numbers stood .333/.413/.385/.798. Judge also boasts a pair of outfield assists. Only Buffalo's Junior Lake (4) has more in IL play entering tonight.

FOUR SCORE AND TWO SWINGS AGO: Judge's four RBIs on Tuesday fell one shy of his career-high mark of five set on July 1, 2014. With Advanced-A Tampa, he went 2-for-3 in a 14-2 win at Lakeland with a double, a homer, two walks and a bruise.

SWISHALICIOUS: Nick Swisher finished the game 2-for-3 with the team's lone walk. In six games played with SWB he has gone 8-for-21 with a pair of extra-base hits slashing .381/.440/.571/1.011. His splits have seen him have similar success against lefties (.375) and righties (.385).

GETTING DEFENSIVE: The RailRiders were charged with their fourth error of the year, tying them with Gwinnett for the fewest in the IL. The club assembled a seven-game error-free stretch from April 8-15 and owns a .992 fielding percentage that trails only Gwinnett (.993). Last year's unit finished fifth in the league with a .982 fielding percentage. The franchise last led the league in fielding percentage at .983 when it did not have a home stadium en route to a division title in 2012.

LET'S GET SERIESOUS: Tonight the RailRiders seek to avoid their first home series setback since dropping two of three versus Syracuse from July 7-9, 2015. That included a 12-inning middle game at PNC Field. SWB's last home series loss in a four-game set? It came the prior series against Buffalo from July 4-6, 2015 including a July 5 day-night doubleheader.

SCOREBOARD WATCHING: At Frontier Field earlier today, Rochester blanked the PawSox, 5-0, halting Pawtucket's seven-game winning streak. The PawSox had not lost since suffering a three-game sweep at the hands of the RailRiders from April 11-13 at McCoy Stadium. Tonight, the RailRiders can tie Pawtucket for first place in the North with a win.

OFF THE RAILS: All five of the RailRiders' hits went for singles...Buffalo's Domonic Brown bashed a pair of home runs and drove in four runs...Alexi Casilla nearly had as many hits (4) as the RailRiders...Buffalo had as many extra-base hits (5) as the RailRiders had total knocks...The 16 hits allowed marked a season-worst total for SWB's pitching staff...Slade Heathcott was hit by a Wade LeBlanc pitch in the fourth inning...He later came out of the game when former Buffalo Bison Jonathan Diaz replaced him...Diaz, mostly a career infielder, filled in as Buffalo's starting center fielder 13 times last season.
