Buffalo Bisons News Release
BUFFALO, NY - In front of a crowd of 15,490, the Buffalo Bisons defeated the Worcester Red Sox 4-1 on Saturday night from Sahlen Field and will look for the series split in tomorrow's finale.
Thomas Hatch bounced back from his last start by throwing 6.1 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out seven to earn the win. The outing marks Hatch's longest outing of the season, after going six innings twice previously.
The Bisons took advantage of an erratic Michael Feliz and sent seven men to the plate in the second inning, scoring runs off an RBI single by Chavez Young and a sac fly off the bat of Logan Warmoth to take a 2-0 lead.
After two innings by Feliz, Taylor Cole came out of the WooSox bullpen and retired nine of the 10 batters he faced over three scoreless frames to keep the Bison lead from growing, though the Herd would tack on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh thanks to a two-run single by Tanner Morris off Durbin Feltman to double their lead.
Jake Elliott retired all three batters he faced in relief of Hatch, before Graham Spraker came on in the eighth and got both batters he faced in order.
Adrian Hernandez then came on to finish things off in the ninth, and despite giving up a solo homer to Ronaldo Hernandez, the first he's given up all season, was able to close things off and secure the win.
The Bisons and WooSox will conclude their six-game series tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EST. The Herd will enjoy an off day on Monday before opening up a six-game set against Lehigh Valley from Allentown beginning on Tuesday.
