WORCESTER, M.A. - A strong start from Kyle Hart and runs in the second, fourth, seventh and eighth gave the Worcester Red Sox (27-14) a 6-3 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (19-22) on Saturday afternoon. The victory marked the third in a row for the WooSox, who took their fifth series of the season in seven tries.

On the Polar Park mound, Kyle Hart delivered his second scoreless outing of the season for Worcester, allowing three hits and striking out four over seven innings of work. Lehigh Valley's biggest threat against Hart came in the first inning, when they loaded the bases with one out. Darick Hall cracked a fly ball to right field that was caught by Marcus Wilson, who ripped a throw to the plate to retire the runner trying to score. The double play kept the IronPigs off the board, and Hart allowed two total hits over the next six frames.

Offensively, an early pair of RBI singles from Jack Lopez gave the left-hander all the run support he needed. Yairo Muñoz began the threat in the second with a double-after a groundout, Lopez brought him home with a liner to right. Two innings later, Muñoz singled, got to second on a wild pitch and once again scored on a Lopez base hit, this time to left.

Lopez now has a hit in nine of 10 games, and in the month of June, the 28-year-old is hitting .422 with 11 RBI.

Up 2-0, the WooSox extended the lead in the seventh, a rally that began with Jarren Duran walk. After a strikeout, Franchy Cordero kept 3-1 pitch fair on a drive down the right field line to score Duran from first. Cordero reached third on the throw to the plate after his double and scored one batter later on a Michael Chavis sac-fly to make it 4-0.

Lopez kept it rolling in the bottom of the eighth after a Muñoz triple, singling again to score him on a liner off the glove of the pitcher. Duran then found a hole in the left side of the infield for an RBI knock of his own to make it 6-0.

After Brandon Brennan tossed a scoreless eighth, Phillips Valdez allowed a Ryan Cordell homer in the ninth. After a single and a walk, Valdez was hit in the pitching hand by a line drive and exited the game. John Schreiber entered and gave up an RBI single and a run-scoring error. Schreiber then got the final two outs, sealing Worcester's tenth win in 11 games, improving the team's home record to 15-8.

The WooSox conclude the six-game series Sunday at Polar Park against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at 1:05 p.m. Television coverage is live on NESN+, and radio coverage starts at 12:45 p.m. on 100 FM the Pike and the WooSox Radio Network. Adonis Medina (3-4, 5.61) gets the start for Lehigh Valley.
